Shala R. Alden, age 33, of 53 Creekside Drive, Orangeville, was stricken ill in Williamsport on Saturday, October 3, and died in the Emergency Room of the Williamsport Hospital at 5:36 p. m.
Born in West Reading on July 23, 1982, she was a daughter of David B. Alden, Hazleton and Shala (Darraugh) Wintersteen, with whom she resided.
She spent her life in the Bloomsburg and Orangeville areas, and was a 2001 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
Shala loved life, fishing, hiking and making people laugh.
Surviving in addition to her parents is her fiance, Victor Espinal, New York City; a stepfather, Dennis Deitrick, Orangeville; a brother, Scott Girton, Westover, Md.; two sisters: Nicole Alden, Catawissa and Jesse Young, at home; two grandmothers: Joanne M. Sedlack, Temple and Jean Darraugh, McAdoo; two nephews: Miguel Lopez and Macklem Girton; and a sister-in-law, Paige Feldman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Pastor J. Michael Delp, Berwick Hospice Chaplain officiating. Viewing at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
