Shirley E. Felker, age 78, 4970 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, died at 10:30 a. m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, in Danville. She was in failing health for a number of years.
Born in New Hope, Virginia on Feb. 26, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth (McCauly) Hunter. She was a 1952 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School, Fisherville, Va.
Shirley resided in Bloomsburg since June, 1974 and formerly lived in California and Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband who was career member of the military. Following high school, she was employed by the U. S. Government, Washington, D.C. from 1953 until her marriage in 1956.
She was a member of St. Paulâs Episcopal Church, Bloomsburg, where she had been active in Church activities while her health permitted.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles J. Felker on Dec. 26, 2013 and by a sister, Nancy Roth.
Surviving is a daughter, Robin E. Blass, at home; four grandchildren: Eric S. Blass, Bloomsburg; Brad C. Blass, and his wife Sharon, Lebanon; Stacy L. Blass, and her fiance, Brandon Onisick, Pottsville; Cody J. Blass, Bloomsburg; three great-grandchildren: Ethan and Talon Heverling, Lebanon; Emily Onisick, Pottsville; a brother, Samuel Hunter, and his wife Ann, Gouldsboro, N.C.; a sister, Peggy, wife of William Vaughn; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. David Bateman officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Viewing will be on Wednesday from 10-11 a. m.
