Shirr Keithan

Shirr (Couden) Keithan, age 71, of 1240 Numidia Drive, Catawissa (Numidia) died at 1:17 p. m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born in Reading on January 2, 1950, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Alberdina (Stagg) Couden, Sr.

Shirr was a 1968 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School in Shillington and also attended Mansfield University. She resided in Numidia since 1988.

She was last employed as a baker by Rohrbach Farm Market in Catawissa. She also was self employed as a seamstress working from her home making clothes and doing alterations and even some upholstery work. Early in her life she was a professional singer and played the trumpet in several bands, the last being “Diamond”.

Shirr was a member of the Numidia Valley Bible Fellowship Church in Numidia.

She was always happy and enjoyed making jokes that kept her family in stitches, as well as everyone else.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Keithan, on January 19, 2016 and by a brother John R. Couden, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Justin Keithan and his wife Ali, Red Lion, by three grandsons: Chance Keithan and Tristan Keithan, of Red Lion and Caleb Cedeno, Benton; and by a sister-in-law, Norma Couden, Union Hall, Virginia.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a time to be announced.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
