Stephen A. Schlesing
Stephen A. Schlesing, age 68, 2051 Reed St., Williamsport, died at 1:25 a. m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a brief illness.
He was born in Muncie, Indiana, a son of the late Arthur H. and Mary L. (Safstrom) Schlesing. He resided in Williamsport for many years and was a 1963 graduate of Williamsport High School and went on to graduate from Lehigh University., with a degree in mathematics. He recently attended the 50th reunion of his high school graduating class.
Steve was employed by Lycoming County as an accountant for 20 years. In recent years he was a self employed accountant and handled finances for many organizations, including the Lion's Club, Cub Pack 12, the Toastmasters, Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association and the Babb Creek Watershed Association.
His brilliance with financial affairs was shared with his church, his tax clients, and numerous organizations.
A 60 year member of the Boy Scouts of America, he was a charter member of Cub Pack 12, where he was a past cub master and current committee chairman. As a teen scout, he was awarded the Pro Deo et Patria award by St. Luke Lutheran Church, Williamsport.
A committed church member, Steve not only was financial director of St Luke congregation, but also served as treasurer and member of the Synod Council for the Upper Susquehanna Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, 2003 -2013, and treasurer of Lutheran Planned Giving of Central Pennsylvania since 2007.
Steve is survived by two sisters, Carol Avery and his twin, Linda Hansee; four nephews and one niece.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
