Suzanne Catherine (Hoffman) Fetterman, age 80, of Division St., Bloomsburg went with her Lord in peace at the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital on Monday morning, June 28, 2021.
Born in Centralia on October 15, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Ethel (Pollard) Hoffman.
Suzanne was a proud coal miner’s daughter and growing up in Centralia brought many fond childhood memories. Suzanne often spoke of her childhood in Centralia, spoken with a pride that the coal region is known for. She graduated from Con-Cen High School where she met her future husband of 61 years, Ronald Fetterman from Wilburton #2. They would marry on September 5th, 1959 and moved to Burlington, North Carolina to start they’re lives together. The Army would soon call on Ronald and they soon found themselves half way across the United States in Fort Riley, Kansas. It was here that they’re first born, Steven Fetterman, came into the world.
After Ronald’s service was completed, they moved back to North Carolina for a few years before moving back to the Danville area. A Year Later, their second son, David Fetterman, was born and they moved into their new home in Bloomsburg, Pa creating a loving home filled with a lifetime of memories.
Suzanne’s Christian faith was an important foundation of her life which found a home in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Danville, PA where she was a member for over 50 years.
Suzanne worked at the Bloomsburg Hospital for 26 years beginning in the Lab as a Desk Clerk. She would excel in this position which would lead to her becoming a fully Certified Unit Desk Clerk, an achievement that she and her family were extremely proud of. It was during this time where she met many wonderful people that would become lifelong friends.
Throughout the years, Suzanne was very active with all her family’s activities. One of the most important being Scouting. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years and then a driving force behind Boy Scouts as an active committee member. Her participation would culminate into many years of service, even after both sons aged out of scouting.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents Ferdinand and Ethel Hoffman, a brother Leroy Hoffman, a brother Paul David Hoffman and many aunts and uncles.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Ronald Fetterman and sons, Steven Fetterman and daughter-in-Law, Diane Holderman-Fetterman, Nanticoke and son David Fetterman of Bloomsburg.
Suzanne has 3 loving Grandchildren that she was very proud of, Krista Fetterman-Ellis, her husband Whitey of North Carolina, Joel Fetterman of Arizona and Ashley Fetterman of the Pittsburgh, PA area.
On this day, Heaven is filled with Polka Music as she dances her way through the gates and into peace.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. David N. Layser officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-7 p. m.
