Ted Pennebaker, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2024, in Bloomsburg, PA. Born on September 20, 1945, in Lewistown, PA, Ted lived a life full of love, dedication, and remarkable achievements.
Ted was born to George and Anna Lucille (Shirk) Pennebaker and spent his childhood in Lewistown. He graduated from Lewistown Area Senior High School in 1963 and went on to further his education at Williamsport Technical Institute, where he graduated in 1965. His pursuit of knowledge and technical skills laid the foundation for a successful career.
On December 17, 1966, Ted married the love of his life, Linda Diane (Keefer) Smith, in Bloomsburg, PA. Their union, which lasted an impressive 57 years, was a testament to their unwavering commitment and love for each other. Together, they built a family, and a life filled with cherished memories and shared dreams.
Ted’s professional journey led him to a 17-year career at IBM East Fishkill, where he was known for his dedication, meticulous work ethic, and technical expertise. Beyond his career, Ted was an active and engaged member of his community. He was previously a member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he exemplified the values of leadership and service. He was also a proud member of the ELKS Lodge 2609 in Wappingers Falls, NY, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to community initiatives.
Among Ted’s many passions, woodworking stood out as a lifelong hobby that brought him immense joy. His craftsmanship was recognized at the Bloomsburg Fair, where he proudly won several ribbons that were a testament to his skill and dedication to the craft.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Linda Pennebaker, his devoted children, Dawn Irvin (Grant) and Todd Pennebaker, both of Bloomsburg, and four cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew, Jessica, and Sean. His family was the center of his world, and he took immense pride in their achievements and well-being.
Ted’s legacy of love, service, and craftsmanship will live on through the memories shared by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ted’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. May Ted rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and warmth of all who knew him.
At Ted’s request, there will be no funeral services.
