Teresa L. Yatko, age 62, 8 W. Park Street, Bloomsburg., died 8:05 p. m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville , where she was a patient for ten days. She had been in ill health for 11 months.
Born in Berwick on January 3, 1956, she was daughter of Marguerite (Leggiere) Lovecchio of Berwick and the late Angelo Lovecchio, Sr. She was a 1973 graduate of Berwick High School and a 1976 graduate of the McCann School of Business in Hazleton.
Teresa resided in Bloomsburg since 1987 and previously lived in Hazleton for 11 years. She was employed at the former Hazleton State General Hospital for 22 years as an administrative secretary and for the past 20 years, she was the office manager for her husband's dental practice in Bloomsburg.
She was a devoted member of St. Columba Catholic Church where she was the chairperson of the bake sale at the annual Winterfest.
Teresa enjoyed hiking and skiing in Vermont as well as traveling around the world. She loved cooking and entertaining family and friends. She was an active member of the Free To Breathe program.
Surviving in addition to her mother, is her loving husband, Joseph J. Yatko, DMD, with whom she celebrated her 30th wedding anniversary on May 2, 2017; three brothers: Joseph Lovecchio, and his wife Alice, Warminister; Anthony Lovecchio, Berwick; Angelo Lovecchio, Jr., and his wife Peggy, Dallas; a sister Mary, wife of Joseph Quinto, Philadelphia; and a number of nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by a multitude of lifelong friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, by Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Berwick. Friends may call on Sunday from 4-6 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
