TERRY G. SEIPLE, SR.
Terry G. Seiple, Sr., age 73, 413 Fowlersville Road, Bloomsburg, collapsed and died while sweeping snow at his home early Friday morning, Jan. 7, 2011.
He was born in Stroudsburg on April 30, 1937 a son of the late Tennis G. and Erma M. (Knorr) Seiple. He resided in the Bloomsburg area most of his life and was a 1955 graduate of the former Scott Township High School in Espy.
Terry served with the U. S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1958. In May, 1959 he enrolled in the Pennsylvania State Police Academy at Hershey, serving with the State Police untill 1992 when he retired. At the time of his retirement he was an investigator serving out of the Bloomsburg barracks.
He was a member of the Bloomsburg Fair Association.
Terry was happiest and took great pleasure in helping family, neighbors and friends, whether it be be landscaping, mowing grass or fixing something.He enjoyed traveling across the country, making new friends along the way, and bringing back stories of the things he saw and did. He visited all of the states except Alaska.
He had a zest for life and seemed to have unlimited energy and was always on the go or doing something. If he didn't have a tool in his hand, he would have one nearby.
Terry enjoyed collecting coins and was an exceptional puzzle solver. People could count on him for anything and was always there to help his friends. He was exactly what he appeared to be.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas K. Seiple, on Dec. 26, 1985.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan J., wife of William E. Long, Red Hill; two sons: Terry G. Seiple, Jr., and his wife Karen, Boulder, Colo. and Todd F. Seiple, and his wife Samantha, San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren: Benjamin J. Powlus, Alexander Seiple, William Seiple and Elizabeth Seiple.
Terry is also survived by a brother, Teddy F. Seiple, Bloomsburg (Almedia); and three sisters: twins, Shelby K. Hoffman, Berwick and Sondra M., wife of Kenneth K. Myers, Bloomsburg, and Cherie A., wife of Michael Collins, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Gordon E. Smith, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with full honors provided by the Pennsylvania State Police Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p. m.
