THELMA O. (McHENRY) DOTY
Thelma O. (McHenry) Doty, age 90, 1052 State Route 239, Benton, was pronounced dead at 5:45 a. m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the home of Kathy Wells, Stillwater.
Born on August 28, 1918 in Jackson Township, she was a daughter of the late Charles L. and Chlorinda (Keeler) McHenry. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson Township and a 1936 graduate of Benton High School.
Thelma was a member of the Lungerville Christian Church and a longtime member of the former Columbia Chapter 177, Order of Eastern Star, Benton, of which she was a past worthy matron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Furman E. Doty on March 23, 1997; by a son, Gerald C. Doty; two daughters, Kay R. Fritz and Opal Bornstad; three brothers: Wallace W. McHenry, Kleber A. McHenry, Clarence E. McHenry, Sr.; and by four sisters: Madge Carpenter, Irene Kline, Pearl Evans and Ella Mae Pennington.
Surviving are four children: Edward L. Doty, wife Wanda, Ashland, Ken.; Furman C. Doty, wife Karen, Clinton, Iowa; Chlorinda, wife of Roland Sonder, Harrisburg; Dean E. Doty, wife Connie, Sweet Valley; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a. m.. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton, with Pastor James E. Harvey, pastor of her church officiating. Interment in Waller Cemetery. Friends may call, Thursday from 10-11 a. m.
