Thomas E. Achy, age 83, formerly of Sherwood Village, Bloomsburg, died at 11:55 p. m. Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Bloomsburg Health Care & Rehabilitation Center where he was a patient.
Born in Catawissa on July 7, 1936, he was a son of the late Frank and Jenny (Myers) Achy. His early life was spent in Catawissa and he moved to Bloomsburg in 1951, graduating from Bloomsburg High School in 1955.
Tom owned restaurants and was employed as a cook for much of his life. He was last employed by the Press Enterprise.
He was a member of and attended both Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia and Trinity United Methodist Church, Espy. For many years he was the caregiver for the neighborhood cats in Sherwood Village. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard for a number of years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Carol L. Gregory, on January 6, 2011 ending a marriage of 55 years.
Tom is survived by three daughters: Colleen M., wife of Barry Gross, Paxinos, Marjorie Sue, wife of Bruce Linker, Waldorf, Md., Caroline L., wife of Tim L. Creasy, Espy; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances “Toot” Johnson, Catawissa; two brothers: Frank “Jeff” Achy, Catawissa and Karl Achy, and his wife Sue, Danville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
