Thomas L. Fought, Sr.

Thomas L. Fought, Sr., age 80, 323 W. 11th Street, Bloomsburg, died at his home at 4:35 a. m. Sunday, April 15, 2018, with his family by his side. . He was in failing health since June, 2017.

Born in Bloomsburg on April 1, 1938, he was a son of the late Thomas F. and Francis (Greenly) Fought. He was a 1956 graduate of the former Scott Township High School and lived in the Bloomsburg area for much of his life. For a number of years he resided in Cogan Station.

Tom was employed by National Cash Register Co., for almost 40 years and was recognized as a top salesman by them  for many of those years..

He was a peacetime veteran of service with the U. S. Marine Corps.

Tom loved life and in particular, the outdoors. He was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman; an extremely proficient archer; a super accurate trap shooter and an avid golfer.

He had an obsession for building stone walls and would always over plant when he planted anything. If there was an auction in the area, he was sure to be there.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey O’Brien and a brother, Donald “Butch” Fought.

Surviving are his wife, the former Kathryn “Betsy” Schutt, with whom he celebrated his 22nd wedding anniversary on March 18, 2018;  a son, Thomas L. Fought, Jr., and his wife Terri, Williamsport; two daughters: Jennifer Cromartie, Delray Beach, Fla. and Victoria Steckler, York;  six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four siblings: Britt Fought, and his wife Nancy, Espy; Betty Lou, wife of Barry Williams, Harrisburg; Scott Fought, Columbia, South Carolina; Dottie Sue, wife of Zeke Zembower, Boalsburg; a sister in law, Louise Fought, Orangeville;  an aunt, Blanche Breisch, Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be no funeral services or viewing.

Friends may remember Tom with a contribution to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.  

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, Pa 17815.
