Thomas M. Landi, 83, of 726 Bloom Road, Danville, died at 5:31 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient. He was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Newark, N.J., a son of the late Michael J. and Lena (Molica) Landi.
Tom was a graduate of Kearny (N.J.) High School. He resided in Danville since 1990. He was last employed by the Valley Trader, Lewisburg as a sales representative. Earlier he was a territorial manager for Mohawk Industries. Prior to that he was a self-employed carpet installer. Early in his life he was employed by Congoleum Nairn, Kearny, N.J. as a flooring installer. He served in the Army Reserves for six years.
He was a member of the Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church, Danville. He was currently serving on the board of directors of the Thomas Free Library, Danville. A life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, he was a past Governor of the Willow Grove Moose Lodge. He served as a volunteer in the pain clinic at Geisinger Medical Center where he met with patients before they received injections.
Tom coached an American Legion baseball team in Roslyn, Pa., and also worked with the Catawissa American Legion team. He was also a former Cub Master and served as a coach at the Roslyn Boys and Girls Club.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid bowler, bowling a perfect 300 game. He was a member, treasurer and organizer of a traveling bowling team in Willow Grove and a a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ann Wetzel, with whom he observed their 29th wedding anniversary on Nov. 17, 2019; a daughter, Theresa Conboy-Shannon of Japan; a son, Anthony Landi, and his wife Jeanine of Mooresville, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Michelle, wife of Brian Brady of Danville and Kelly Rae, wife of Steven Forney of Smithfiled, Va.; five grandchildren, Michelle Conboy, Natalie Landi, Kara Landi, Corey Brady, Troy Brady; one sister, Judy Hyde of Kearny, N.J.; and three nephews, James Hyde, Dennis Hyde and Michael Hyde.
A visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church, 621 Pine St., Danville, followed by the funeral at 1, with the Rev. Gretchen M. Johansen, interim pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Lois Martin, officiating.
