Thomas E. Onofrio, Sr.
Thomas E. Onofrio, Sr., age 80, 7025 Columbia Blvd., Bloomsburg, died at his home at 9 a. m. Friday, February 7, 2014 after an illness.
Born in New Haven, Conn., on January 5, 1934, he was a son of the late Dominik T. and Laura E. (Ouelett) Onofrio. He resided in the Bloomsburg area since 1987.
Tom was a businessman, owning several mobile home parks in the Bloomsburg area. Earlier he was a truck driver and also worked in an automotive repair shop.
He was a member of the Mifflinville Fire Co.
Tom served with the US Navy during the Korean War, as a member of the SeaBee's and was stationed in Argentina and Newfoundland.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas E. Onofrio, Jr., on December 9, 2011; a brother, Eugene O. Onofrio and a sister, Janet May Onofrio.
Tom is survived by two daughters: Cindy Lynn Onofrio, Scotland, Conn. and Diane Marie Graham, Statesboro, Georgia; four grandchildren: Kenneth Berry Collins, Allen Thomas Goodrich, Phil Lavon Graham, Leane Marie Hodges; four great-grandchildren: Jackson, Jane, Sophie Anne & Ava Gray; and two sisters: Nancy Robords, Avoca, New York and Carole, wife of Douglas Montfort, Rochester, New York.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsbuirg, by Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment with military honors by the combined VFW group will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Viewing on Thursday from 6-8 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Christian Wake services will be at 6 p. m.
