Thomas J. “Onion” Onuschak, Jr., 82, of West Front Street, Berwick died early Monday morning, December 23, 2024, at Allied Hospice in Wilkes Barre.
Born in Ringtown on July 4, 1942, he was a son of the late Tomas J., Sr. and Mae (Beaver) Onuschak. He spent most of his life in Ringtown and was a graduate of Ringtown High School. He was a machinist by trade and worked in a variety of industrial jobs.
Tommy was active in his hometown of Ringtown, serving as police chief, fire chief and eventually becoming mayor.
He was an avid sportsman, camping, fishing and especially hunting, which he lived for.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marianne L. Pursel, on September 25, 2023.
He is survived by a son Walter Stankavage and his wife Amanda of Berwick, a sister, Barbara Menter of Lancaster, a nephew David Menter of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.
At his request, there will be no funeral services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street.
