Thomas L. Slusser, age 73, formerly of Catawissa, died Monday, August 1 2016 at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center.
Born in Buckhorn on January 13, 1943, he was a son of the late Lee E. and Viola M. (Hartzell) Slusser. Thomas was a resident of Columbia County for most of his life.
He was a veteran of the US Army, and served during the Vietnam era.
Thomas was a member of the VFW Post 8306, Catawissa; the Disabled American Veteran organization; and the American Legion. He enjoyed antiquing and playing games on his computer, but what he loved most was spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 46 years, the former Dorothy H. “Dot” Birmingham, at home; three children: Tammy L. Rupert, Catawissa; Christopher L. Slusser, and his wife Nicole; and Jennifer M., wife of Garry Marr, Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Elan Memorial Park, Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg (Lime Ridge), with Rev. Gordon E. Smith, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, officiating. Military services will be performed by the combined VFW group. There will be no calling hours.
