Thomas E. "Tom" Lunger, age 74, formerly of Danville, died at 2:56 p. m. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at The Gardens of Orangeville, Orangeville, where he resided since October 8, 2013.
Born in Mahoning Township, Montour County on May 8, 1943, he was a son of the late William J., Sr. and Alice F. (Brady) Lunger. He resided in Danville most of his life until moving to Georgetown, Kentucky in 2005. He returned to this area in 2013 following a massive stroke.
Tom was a 1961 graduate of Danville High School.
He was last employed at the former TRW Plant in Danville, working there for 16 years, retiring on Feb. 6, 2004. Earlier he was employed by the former Branch Motor Express for 14 years and prior to that at the former Kennedy Van Saun plant for nine years.
Tom was of the Catholic faith.
Tom was a member of the Continental Fire Co. and the Washington "Washies" Fire Co., both of Danville; the Fraternal Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 764 and Squad 0024, Sons of the American Legion, Georgetown, Kentucky.
He enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren and friends when they came to visit him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, the former Karen R. Latchford who died on July 18, 2001; a daughter in law, Kimberly Lunger; a brother, William J. Lunger, Jr. and a sister Margaret Moser.
Tom is survived by four children: Patrice M., wife of Jacob S. Trump, Millville; Christine L., wife of Jeffrey H. Swank, Bloomsburg; James A. Lunger, Georgetown, Kentucky; Anne R. Lunger, Danville; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters: Alice M. Corcoran, Bloomsburg and Mary, wife of Joseph Millard, Sunset Beach, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with Pastor Mike Delp, Commonwealth Hospice Chaplain, Berwick, officiating. Interment in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Danville. Viewing at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.
