VIOLA M. STADLER
Viola M. Stadler, age 106, formerly of East Third St., Bloomsburg, died at 10:55 p. m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center, where she was a patient since Oct., 2007.
Born on Nov. 16, 1904 in Catawissa, she was a daughter of the late Harry B. and Hannah (Peifer) Stadler. She resided in Penns Grove, New Jersey for many years before coming to Bloomsburg about 1988. At the time of her death she was believed to be the oldest resident of Bloomsburg.
Viola was a 1922 graduate of the former Catawissa High School and a 1924 graduate of the former Bloomsburg State Normal School.
She was a public school teacher and principal in Penns Grove, N.J. for many years before retiring about 1970.
She was of the Lutheran faith and attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice A. Ward on Aug. 11, 1984.
Surviving are two nephews: Richard L. Ward and Harry A. Ward, and his wife Linn, all of Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Joel L. Zeiders, pastor of St. Matthew Lutheran Church officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Catawissa. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:30 p. m.
