VIRGINIA  L.  YORKS

Virginia L. Yorks, age 76, 1300 Grandview Drive, Bloomsburg, died unexpectedly at her home at 8:27 a. m. Saturday, May 5, 2012.

Born in Fishingcreek Township on Aug. 21, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Ray Donovan and Bertha Marie (Hess) Bender. She resdied in Benton for many years before moving to the Lightstreet area in December, 2002. She was a 1953 graduate of Benton Area High School.

Virginia owned the Kozy Korners Restaurant in Benton for 30 years, retiring in 1998.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Wayne Yorks, former Benton Mayor and Columbia County Commissioner, on Jan. 8, 2001 and by a  brother, Richard Bender.

Surviving are her companion, A. Keith Phillips, who resided with her and two sisters: Dorothy Haines and Darl Haines, both of Catawissa. There bare also several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Waller Cemetery with Rev. Calvin L. Miller, pastor of the Benton United Methodist Church officiating. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home, Benton.
