W. Frank Twardzik, age 93, 1529 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, died at 2:15 p. m. Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center where he resided for two and one half years.
Born in Shenandoah on February 16, 1920, he was a son of the late Frank M. and Mary (Bennick) Twardzik. He resided in Bloomsburg since 1993 and lived previously in Barnesville and Shenandoah.
Frank was a 1938 graduate of J. W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah; the McCann School of Business; and received his Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) degree from Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre.
He was employed by MetLife Insurance Co. for over 60 years as an estate planner.
Frank was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. In Shenandoah he was active in many community activities and organizations including the Heart Association of Schuylkill County, Crippled Childrenâs Society; the Rotary Club of which he served as president; and the American Legion Post. In Bloomsburg he served on the Scott Township Planning Commission.
He served with the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, the former Bernadette âBethâ H. Creedon, on March 3, 2010; two sisters: Francis Gish and Eleanor Zale; and two brothers: John F. Twardzik and Louis F. Twardzik.
Surviving are two sons: Dr. Daniel R. Twardzik, and his wife Jane, Seattle, Wash.; Dr. Frank G. Twardzik, and his wife, Attorney Barbara, Glenwood, Md.; a daughter, Diane A., wife of Robert B. Littlewood, Bloomsburg, five grandchildren, including Jonathan R. Littlewood and his wife Carrie, Bloomsburg; three great-grandsons; and a brother, Theodore F. âTedâ Twardzik, and his wife Jean, Sarasota, Fla.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 1 p. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, by his pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
