Wallace H. Kirby, Sr., age 78, 414 Mill Street, Orangeville, died at his home on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his home and was pronounced dead at 1:35 a. m. He had been in failing health for the past year.

Born in Lumber City, Georgia on January 17, 1939, he was a son of the late Barney D. and Edna L. (Brown) Kirby. He resided in Orangeville since 2003 and previously lived in Alachua, Florida for many years.

Wallace was a 1957 graduate of Commercial High School , Savannah, Georgia. He was self employed doing business as Kirby Sales, Inc., in Florida. He enjoyed fishing and socializing with friends and family. He served with the U. S. Marine Corps.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Betty Bradley on March 31, 2013;  by two sisters: Betty Lee and Olivia McGuffin; and a brother, Billy Kirby.

Wallace is survived by his wife, the former Genovese (Troup) "Gen"  Johnson, who he married on July 18, 2003; four children: Betty Jane Kirby, Panama City, Fla.; Wallace H. Kirby, Jr., Mobile, Ala.; Karen Nanette, wife of Al Batick, Clyde, N.C.; Gary Kent Kirby, and his wife Lori, Pamona Park, Fla.; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four step children: Sharon L. Johnson, at home; Michael L. Johnson, Altoona; Penny D., wife of Daniel W. Morris, Millville; Laurinda A., wife of Mark Carroll, Mass.; seven step grandchildren; two sisters: Bonnie wife of Bartow Edwards, Springfield, Ga.; Brenda, wife of Jim Rabon, Port Wentworth, Ga.; and two brothers: Ronnie Kirby, and his wife Laura, Statesboro, Ga. and Jimmy Kirby, and his wife Pat, Savannah, Ga. There are also a number of nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held. Interment will be  in   Forest Meadows Central Memorial Park, Gainesville, Fla.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, PA
