Wendell E. âSamâ Adams, age 69, 208 Main St., Orangeville, died at 8:50 p. m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012 in the emergency room of the Bloomsburg Hospital where he was taken after being stricken ill at his home.
Born in Bloomsburg on Dec. 15, 1942, he was a son of the late Theron and Virginia (Snyder) Adams. His lifetime was spent in Bloomsburg, Espy and Orangeville.
Sam was a 1960 graduate of the former Scott Township High School.
He was employed by Gold Star Lines, Inc., Bloomsburg, as a truck driver and mechanic for over 40 years. Previously he was employed by the former Ferguson Transportation in a similar capacity for eight years. He was a former member of the Teamsters Union.
Sam volunteered for the Orangeville Little League by mowing the bank along their field for many years. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, working in his garage and doing yard work. Sam especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and family, and also family picnics.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Sue Adams on Aug. 10, 1978 and by a great- grandson, Evan Hall.
Surviving are his wife, the former Janice M. Deitterick, with whom he celebrated his 34th wedding anniversary on May 22, 2011; three daughters: Michelle O., wife of Danny Seltzer, Berwick; Sheila R. Koffel, Espy; Tammy R. Roeder, Bloomsburg; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne Adams, and his wife Doris, Espy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 p. m. Interment in Columbia Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
