Willard H. "Bill" Kile, Sr.

Willard H. “Bill” Kile, Sr., age 91, of Lightstreet, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville., where he had been a patient.

He was born in Bloomsburg on January 30, 1928, a son of the late Glen W. and Lorraine (Howell) Kile. He graduated from the former Scott Township High School.

Following high school, he joined the U. S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.

Bill was involved in various business ventures, including being the co-owner of the Bloomsburg Ice and Cold Storage, Towne Marine and Kile and Kile Real Estate. He also served as a Columbia County Commissioner;  on the board of the former Columbia County Farmers National Bank and as a member of the Bloomsburg Fair board.

He was a member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church; Washington Lodge 265, F & AM; Caldwell Consistory; Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and the former Columbia County Moose, all of Bloomsburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Glen Kile and a sister, Marjorie Jane K. Dent.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, the former Joan Appleman, of Lightstreet; a son, Dr. Willard H. Kile, Jr., and his wife Margo (Aurand) Kile, Lightstreet and a granddaughter, Hope Kile, Buffalo, New York. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019 at 11 a. m. in the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main Street, Lightstreet, with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Jennifer Parks-Snyder officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family., The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a. m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main St., Bloomsburg, Pa 17815.
