Willard O. Phillips, age 97, 90 W. Walnut Street, Millville, died at 11:25 a. m. Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Bonham Nursing Center, Stillwater, where she resided since May.
Born in Sonestown, Sullivan County on September 22, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Tressie (Klinger) Savage.
Her early life was spent in Benton and later she resided in Bloomsburg for 10 years before moving to Millville where she spent 42 years. She then moved to Bloomsburg in 1997 and returned to Millville in 2009.
Willard was a 1933 graduate of Benton High School.
She was employed by Milco Industries, Inc., Bloomsburg for 33 years, retiring in September, 1977.
Willard was a member of the Emmanuel Bible Church near Millville. She was an avid crocheter and loved to tat.
Willard was preceded in death by her husband, Walter S. âBudâ Phillips on May 19, 1993; by a son-in-law, Jack Ball; by three brothers: Roscoe Savage, Lawrence Savage, Floyd (Mike) Savage, and by three sisters: Emmaline Sorber, Iris P. Penman and Blanche Fenstermacher.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty I. Kisner, with whom she resided in Millville; three grandchildren: John Ball, and his wife Margaret, Drakes Branch, Va.; Linda, wife of Rollie Kinney, Bloomsburg; Susan Grenier, Millville; eight great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine F. Novotny, Dayville, Conn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a. m. in the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1314 State Route 254, Millville, with her pastor, Rev. Timothy M. Valiante officiating. Interment in the Millville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church from 10-11 a. m.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
