William R. Barstler
William R. Barstler, age 86, 1879 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg (Espy) , died at his home at 6:35 p.m.. Wednesday, January 8, 2014. He had been in failing health for several months.
Born in Sunbury on April 22, 1927, he was a son of the late Roscoe C. and Grace A. (Campbell) Barstler. A 1945 graduate of Bloomsburg High School, he had resided in Bloomsburg since 1930.
Bill began working with Columbia Aircraft Services at the Bloomsburg Airport in 1946 and retired as the owner in 1993.
He served with the Army's First Infantry Division in Germany during World War II.
Bill was a 50 year member of the Washington Lodge #265, F & A< and of Caldwell Consistory. He also belonged to Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Della Nola Martz, on April 6, 2000; a sister, Sarah Henderson Bucher on June 23, 2000; and by a nephew, John Bucher.
Surviviing is a niece, Ellen McAllen, Salisburg, MD.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 2:00 P.M. in the Dean W Kriner Inc Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg with Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson-Mooresburg United Methodist Churches, officiating. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m.
Interment will be in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with military honors by the combined VFW group.
