WILLIAM MORRISON BELCHER, JR.
William Morrison "Bill" Belcher, Jr., age 57, 410 Madrid Avenue, Bloomsburg (Espy) died at 11:58 a. m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for six days, after being injured in a fall at his home.
Born in Woburn, Mass. on May 13, 1954, he was the son of Winifred (Woods) Belcher, Concord, New Hampshire and the late William Morrison Belcher, Sr.
He was a 1972 graduate of Lexington High School, Lexington, Mass., earned a BA degree from the University of Massachusetts and a MBA degree from Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in North carolina.
Bill moved to Bloomsburg in 1992 and was employed by Karelis and Timm, later the Market Street Group, Lewisburg; Creative Enterprise (a division of the Press Enterprise), Bloomsburg; and currently by Keystone National High School, Bloomsburg.
He loved to travel, taking trips to England, France and Austrailia, along with biking across the United States. He also loved sports, playing soccer at the University of Massachusetts from 1973 to 1976, and was a co-captain in his senior year. He devotedly followed whatever Boston team that was in season. He was a gracious winner, with an infectious laugh that will be missed by his many friends.
Bill is survived by his wife, Karen M. Trifonoff, and her son, Lt. Bartholomew W. Connolly, stationed at Point Mugu Naval Air Station, Calif.; his mother, Winifred (Woods) Belcher, Concord, N.H.; a sister, Beverly Beck, Newburyport, Mass.; a niece, Natalie Beck, Providence, R.I.; a nephew, Stephen Beck, Groton, Mass.; a brother-in-law, Daniel Beck, Dracut., Mass.; and numerous relatives in the greater Boston area.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11 a. m. in First Presbyterian Church, 345 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Maggie Gillespie, interim pastor of the Church officiating. Additional services will be held in Lexington, Mass. and a private interment will be made in Amherst, Mass.
Friends may call on Friday (today) from 6-8 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
