William G. Boughter

William G. Boughter

William G. Boughter, age 94, 145 Millville Road, Bloomsburg, died at 1:04 p. m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for five days. He had been in ill health since July, 2015.

Born in Bloomsburg on October 23, 1922, he was a son of the late William A. and Hazel (Ohl) Boughter. He resided in Bloomsburg  most of his lifetime and was a 1940 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.

Bill was last employed by Caldwell Consistory as a custodian and earlier was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co. for over 30 years.  He participated in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the early 1940's.

He was a long time member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Bill was active in Washington Lodge 265, F & A.M. and served as Worshipful Master and also Caldwell Consistory, where he received the Meritorius Service Award.

Bill served with the US Army during World War II, serving in France and Germany and participating in the Rhineland campaign.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rebecca "Becky" Powlus on January 5, 2012 and by a sister Clair.

Bill is survived by two sons: Steven G. Boughter, Bloomsburg and Brian W. Boughter, Las Vegas, Nevada; a grandson, Wyatt Boughter, and his wife Lindsey, Pottstown; a granddaughter, Kylie Rae Boughter, Ovaida, Fla.; three sisters: Mildred Blass, Elysburg; Frances "Patsy" Kemp, Bloomsburg;  Vivian, wife of Tony Gayeskie, Camp Hill; a brother, James Boughter, and his wife Gail, Millville, NJ; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a. m. in the Chapel of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 N. Market St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders officiating. Interment with military honors by the combined VFW group will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.

Viewing  on Sunday from 3-5 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg and on Monday from 10 - 11 a. m. in the parlor of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.  Washington Lodge 265 F & AM will conduct Masonic memorial services at 4:30 p. m. Sunday.
