William S. Johns, Jr., 72, 530 Hepburn St., Milton, died at his home on Wednesday May 15, 2019 at 8:48 p.m.
Born on May 4, 1947 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William S., Sr. and Dolly (Harmess) Johns. William was a resident of Milton for 25 years.
He was a graduate of the Augusta Military Academy in Virginia.
William was last employed by the All American Truck Stop, Milton, for 15 years, retiring in 2009. Earlier he was an over the road truck driver.
An avid Phillies and Dale Earnhart, Sr. fan, he collected coins, stamps, and baseball cards. He enjoyed portraying Santa Claus with his wife at various locations and activities in the Danville area.
William was preceded in death by a daughter, Mellissa K. Johns.
Surviving are his wife the former Darlene M. Diehn, with whom he celebrated a 22 wedding anniversary on October 26, 2018; a daughter, Debra Lynn Zimmerman, Ephrata; son, David Keen, wife Bonnie Bolton, Lancaster; daughter, Della, wife of Ted Troup, Conestoga; son, William S. Johns, III, wife Mary Ellen Hackman, Orwigsburg; son, Joseph Johns, Conestoga; daughter, Mary, California; 12 Grandchildren; 13 Great-Grandchildren; sister, Darla, wife of Ben Witmer, Pequea; and an aunt, Helen Logan, Lancaster.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the PA S.P.C.A., 1467 Bloom Rd., Danville.
