William Miller Millar, age 93, formerly of Danville and New Providence and Summit, New Jersey, died at the Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
Born in Washington, D. C. on May 28, 1925, he was a son of the late Julian Zimmerman and Dolores (Miller) Millar. He resided in New Jersey much of his life before moving to Danville to live with his son several years ago.
He was a graduate of the Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey and also of New York University in New York City with a B. S. degree in electric engineering.
He was last employed by I. T. T. Avionics, retiring in the early 1990’s
Mr. Miller held membership in the I.E.E.E. (an electronics society); the Sons of the American Revolution; Old Guard Association, Summit, N. J.; VFW Post 443, New Providence, N.J. the Bridge Club, New Providence and the Association of Old Crows.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Caroline Sloane on October 7, 2015 and by a sister, Barbara Ann Millar of New York City in 2018.
Surviving are a son, William Sloane Millar, M.D., Danville; a daughter, Suzanne M. wife of Gaivs Mount, Stockton, N.J.; two grandchildren: Alyssa Mount and Bradley Mount.
Private family services were held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. C. Rayvon Hilliard, retired United Methodist minister officiating.
