William "Bill" Simpson, age 69, 648 W. Main Street, Bloomsburg, died at 8:43 p. m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. His death followed a lengthy illness.
Born on May 20, 1947 in Hertford, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Mary Simpson. He resided in Bloomsburg for many years and previously lived in New Hope, North Carolina.
Bill was last employed by the former Berwick Forge & Fabricating Co. where he worked for 15 years before becoming disabled. Earlier in his life he was a policeman for several years in Baltimore, Maryland during the 1970's.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, New Hope, North Carolina. His hobbies were fishing and playing the guitar. He loved to help people and was a "big brother" to many children.
Bill will be remembered by many for parking cards at his home on West Main Street during the annual Bloomsburg Fair.
Bill was preceded in death by two brothers: Leroy Simpson and Murray Powell White; and a set of infant twins.
Survivors are his companion, Betty Blass; a daughter, Deanna Simpson, Baltimore, Md.; seven siblings: Essie Mae Simpson, Philadelphia; Richard White, Portsmouth, Va.; Mona, wife of Willie Hayes, Detroit, Mich.; Alfred Taylor, Dallastown; twins: Marshall Taylor, Santa Cruz, Calif. and Margaret Gault, and her husband Bill, Greensboro, North Carolina; Vanessa Taylor, Elizabeth City, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at on Sunday from 3-5 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
