William H. Wolfe
William H. Wolfe, age 84, 3055 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg (Almedia) died at 10:44 p. m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for five days. He was in ill health for 2 1/2 weeks.
Born in Bloomsburg on August 18, 1928, he was a son of the late William S. and S. Emily (Strausser) Wolfe. He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and a 1948 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
Bill was an electrician by trade and operated Wolfe Electric from 1975 until retiring in 1993. Earlier he was employed as an electrician at the former Magee Carpet Co.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, where he served on church council, as an usher and on the property committee. Previously he was a longtime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, where he also served on church council, as an usher and on the property committee.
Bill served with the US Army during the Korean War period and was a member of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert, and by a sister, Ruthann Sponenberg.
Surviving are his wife, the former LaVerne Mayer, with whom he celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary on August 29, 2012; a son, Jeffery J. Wolfe, and his wife Tammy and a granddaughter, his beloved Sarah Elizabeth Wolfe, all of Bloomsburg; two sisters: Sara, wife of Donald E. Rubenstein, Mifflinville and Esther Hartman, Nescopeck; and a brother, Leslie H. Wolfe, and his wife Jane, Berwick.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 12 to 2 p. m.
