William Frank Worthington, age 70, 4 Kent Road, Bloomsburg, was stricken ill at his home and taken to the emergency room of the Bloomsburg Hospital where he died at 2:22 p. m. Sunday, April 15, 2018.
Born on May 21, 1947 in Norristown, he was a son of the late Lawrence E. and Ann (Venezia) Worthington. He attended Conshohocken High School. A resident of Bloomsburg since 1997, he previously lived in Hatfield.
Frank was a tool and die maker by trade. He was last employed by Renco Ace Hardware as a clerk, retiring on July 31, 2017 after eight years employment. His hobby was computers and he operated a computer repair business for a number of years.
He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. An active volunteer, he delivered "Meals on Wheels" and assisted at AGAPE. He was an avid reader and enjoyed nature and animals. He was especially happy sitting on the front porch enjoying the outdoors and the animals.
Frank served with the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War and following his enlistment, he became a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard Unit, where he served for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Worthington.
Frank is survived by his wife, the former Gail L. Buckingham, with whom he celebrated his 36th wedding anniversary on October 3, 2017; three children: Christopher F. Worthington, and his wife Jennifer Harleysville; Dana M., wife of Jon Meyers, Souderton; Jody L. Worthington, at home; five grandchildren: Mason Worthington, Madison Worthington, Emily Meyers, Julie Meyers, Natalie Meyers; and a sister, Christina A. Worthington, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Luther J. Martell, officiating. Military honors by the combined veterans group will follow the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a. m.
